YUGOSLAVIA  was the Yugoslav state that existed from the end of World War II (1945) until it disintegrated in the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. It was a socialist state that comprised the area of the present-day independent states of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
