 Origin of motif: coin of Agrippa I (37 - 44 C.E.). Agrippa I also called the Great (10 BC - 44 AD), King of the Jews, was the grandson of Herod the Great, and son of Aristobulus IV and Berenice.
His original name was Marcus Julius Agrippa, and he is the king named Herod
in the Acts of the Apostles, in the Bible.

The denomination "1 agorah" in Hebrew, the year of minting in Hebrew. (JE5722 = 1962).

After the government decided to change the division of the Israel pound from 1,000 prutot to 100 agorot, the new coins were put into circulation starting 1.01.1960.
