The coat of arms of Israel (seven-branch candelabrum - "Menora"). "Israel" in Hebrew, Arabic and English. Origin of motif: relief of the Arch of Titus.

The Arch of Titus is a Pentelic marble triumphal arch with a single arched opening, located on the Via Sacra just to the south-east of the Forum in Rome.

The denomination "5 new agorot", the year of minting (JE5740 = AD1980) in Hebrew. 

In 1980 the Israeli Pound was abolished and replaced by the Sheqel. The new subdivision of the Sheqel was named Agora Hadasha ("New Agora"). There were 100 New Agorot in 1 Sheqel.
