 Origin of motif: Coin of Alexander Jannaeus.

Alexander Jannaeus (Jannai / Yannai), King of Judea from 103 BCE to 76 BCE.

 

The denomination "1 Pruta" and year of minting in Hebrew (JE5709 = AD1949),  two stylized olive branches around the rim. Coins occur with and without a small pearl under the bar connecting the wreath.

The Pruta was a denomination of currency in Israel prior to 1960.
