Coat of arms in relief, and the legend "The United Mexican States" in Spanish, which forms the upper semicircle. On the central part of the coin: bust of M. Hidalgo, on the left - denomination, the year of minting; on the right - the symbol of Mexico's Minting House.

 Don Miguel Hidalgo (1753 – 1811) also known as Priest Hidalgo, was the chief instigator of Mexico's war of independence against Spain. The state of Hidalgo in Mexico is named after him.
