Jose Eduvigis Diaz ( ? - 1867) was a celebrated Paraguayan general. Diaz was the hero of the September 22, 1866 battle of Curupaity.

Humaitá is a town in southern Paraguay, lying on the Paraguay River. It is best known for its role as the major Paraguayan stronghold in the War of the Triple Alliance.
