In the center: bust of G. Washington faced left. A quarter is a coin worth one-quarter of a United States dollar, or 25 cents. The quarter has been produced since 1796, and is the highest denomination U.S. coin commonly in circulation. |
Inscription along the rim: title of state. Hawaii, spelled 'Hawai’i' in the Hawaiian language, is nicknamed 'The Aloha State.' It became the 50th state admitted to the Union on Aug. 21, 1959. On the reverse of coin Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha I stretching his hand toward the eight major Hawaiian Islands. Inscriptions are the state motto 'The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness' in the Hawaiian. Below - the year of minting. |
